Tansagem (Plantain) (Plantago major) is a herb used in the Brazilian Phytotherapy tradition to help with Wound Healing, Respiratory Issues, Digestive Issues, and UTI. The leaves are the part traditionally used, used both internally and topically.

Botanical background

Plantago major (broadleaf plantain, white man's foot, or greater plantain) is a species of flowering plant in the plantain family Plantaginaceae. The plant is native to most of Europe and northern and central Asia, but has widely naturalised elsewhere in the world.

Tea / Infusion

1–3 cups daily
  • Steep 1–2 tsp of dried Tansagem (Plantain) in freshly boiled water for 5–10 minutes.
  • Cover while steeping.
  • Strain and drink.

Tincture

20–40 drops in water, 2–3× daily
  • Pack dried Tansagem (Plantain) into a jar and cover with 40–60% alcohol.
  • Seal and steep for 4–6 weeks, shaking daily.
  • Strain and store in a dark dropper bottle.

500 mg – 1 g, 1–3× daily
  • Grind dried Tansagem (Plantain) into a fine powder.
