Kuppaimeni (Indian Acalypha) (Acalypha indica) is a herb used in the Siddha Medicine tradition to help with Cough, Asthma, Skin Health, and Wound Healing. The aerial parts and leaves are the parts traditionally used, used both internally and topically.

Botanical background

Acalypha indica (English: Indian Acalypha, Indian Mercury, Indian Copperleaf, Indian Nettle, Three-seeded Mercury) is an herbaceous annual that has catkin-like inflorescences with cup-shaped involucres surrounding the minute flowers. It is mainly known for its root being attractive to domestic cats, and for its various medicinal uses. It occurs throughout the Tropics.

  • Steep 1–2 tsp of dried Kuppaimeni (Indian Acalypha) in freshly boiled water for 5–10 minutes.
  • Cover while steeping.
