Harraz (Acacia) (Acacia nilotica) is a herb used in the Unani / Islamic Medicine tradition to help with Wound Healing, Diarrhea, Digestive Issues, and Oral Health. The aerial parts and leaves are the parts traditionally used, used both internally and topically.

Botanical background

Vachellia nilotica (commonly known as gum arabic tree, babul, thorn mimosa, Egyptian acacia or thorny acacia) is a tree in the family Fabaceae. It is native to Africa, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. It is also currently an invasive species of significant concern in Australia.

Tea / Infusion

1–3 cups daily
  • Steep 1–2 tsp of dried Harraz (Acacia) in freshly boiled water for 5–10 minutes.
  • Cover while steeping.
  • Strain and drink.

  • Pack dried Harraz (Acacia) into a jar and cover with 40–60% alcohol.
  • Seal and steep for 4–6 weeks, shaking daily.
