Echinacea stimulates the immune system and may counteract immunosuppressant medications used after organ transplants or for autoimmune conditions (corticosteroids, cyclosporine, methotrexate). Not recommended for autoimmune diseases without specialist supervision.

Preparation:
- Use a pre-made quality elderberry syrup or prepare fresh: simmer 1 cup dried elderberries in 3 cups water with cinnamon and ginger 45 min, strain, cool, add honey (1y+) or maple syrup.
- Start at onset of first cold symptom.
Dosage:
- Babies (6β12m, honey-free): Β½ tsp 3Γ daily.
