Nagamalli (Henna) (Lawsonia inermis) is a herb used in the Siddha Medicine tradition to help with Hair Loss, Skin Health, Fever, and Headache. The aerial parts and leaves are the parts traditionally used, used both internally and topically.

Botanical background

Lawsonia inermis, also known as hina, the henna tree, the mignonette tree, and the Egyptian privet, is a flowering plant and the sole species of the Lawsonia genus. It is the source of the dye henna used to dye skin, hair and fingernails, as well as fabrics including silk, wool and leather.

Tea / Infusion

1–3 cups daily
  • Steep 1–2 tsp of dried Nagamalli (Henna) in freshly boiled water for 5–10 minutes.
  • Cover while steeping.
  • Strain and drink.

  • Pack dried Nagamalli (Henna) into a jar and cover with 40–60% alcohol.
  • Seal and steep for 4–6 weeks, shaking daily.
