Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) is a herb used in the Western Herbalism tradition to help with UTI, Kidney Support, Allergies, and Inflammation. The aerial parts and leaves are the parts traditionally used, taken internally.

Botanical background

Solidago virgaurea (European goldenrod or woundwort) is an herbaceous perennial plant of the family Asteraceae. It is widespread across most of Europe as well as North Africa and northern, central, and southwestern Asia (China, Russia, India, Turkey, Kazakhstan, etc.). It is grown as a garden flower with many different cultivars. It flowers profusely in late summer.

1–3 cups daily
  • Steep 1–2 tsp of dried Goldenrod in freshly boiled water for 5–10 minutes.
  • Cover while steeping.
  • Strain and drink.

  • Pack dried Goldenrod into a jar and cover with 40–60% alcohol.
  • Seal and steep for 4–6 weeks, shaking daily.
  • Strain and store in a dark dropper bottle.
