Desmos Flower (Hoa Hài)

Desmos chinensis

About Desmos Flower (Hoa Hài)

Desmos Flower (Hoa Hài) (Desmos chinensis) is a herb used in the Vietnamese Traditional Medicine tradition to help with Fever, Digestive Issues, Respiratory Issues, and Pain. The flowers are the part traditionally used, taken internally.

Botanical background

Desmos chinensis is a flowering plant of the custard-apple family, Annonaceae. The yellowish-green flowers are similar to the Ylang-ylang flowers, therefore this plant is sometimes known as dwarf ylang-ylang. Their smell, however, is much less strong and is only felt in the morning. By midday it has mostly faded away.

Quality tips

When buying Desmos Flower (Hoa Hài), look for: certified organic labelling, clearly stated country of origin, third-party lab testing for heavy metals and pesticides, and a batch expiry date. Standardised extracts offer consistent dosing; bulk dried herbs are more economical for regular use. Avoid very cheap, unlabelled products — quality varies enormously.
