Botanical background

Agathosma betulina (previously Barosma betulina) is a flowering plant in the family Rutaceae, native to the lower elevation mountains of western South Africa, where it occurs near streams in fynbos habitats.

  • Steep 1–2 tsp of dried Buchu in freshly boiled water for 5–10 minutes.
  • Cover while steeping.
  • Strain and drink.

  • Pack dried Buchu into a jar and cover with 40–60% alcohol.
  • Seal and steep for 4–6 weeks, shaking daily.
